The EVTA Executive Committee regrets to announce that our past president and honorary member, Dr. Susan Yarnall Monks, passed away on 5^th October after a short illness. Our thoughts and condolences go out to her husband and family at this time. 

It is impossible to sum up all that Susan has done for EVTA and the international voice community. As two-term President and long-time Executive Committee member she built bridges between teachers, researchers and clinicians, and worked tirelessly to strengthen EVTA’s role in Europe and beyond.

Through her leadership, dedication and vast network, she inspired countless colleagues, supported young researchers, and helped create lasting collaborations through projects such as Leo Sings, as well as active participation of EVTA in ICVT and PEVOC. During the pandemic, she brought our community together online, offering connection and comfort when singing was silenced.

Susan was generous, eloquent, and endlessly kind — the face and heart of EVTA for many years. Her legacy lives on in the people she connected and the opportunities she created. Thank you, Susan!
